Farm Tour at Save Farm Gholvad

One of the many highlights of our wonderful trip to Save Farm, Gholvad was the tour of the farm conducted by Mr. Anil Save. One tip to note here is that the adventure activities are at the end of this tour, so remember to wear flat footwear, preferably sports shoes.

It was fun sitting in the tractor-drawn vehicle (we called it the Buggy since we did not really know what it should be called) and being take around, somewhat akin to sitting in a carriage in a regal manner!
I must admit the start of the tour was a bit boring with a lesson on bees and pollination.
However, the interest in the group sparked up when we were shown various medicinal plants and given leaves of a few to taste.

The interest heightened even more on entering the natural museum which displayed various seeds, nests and other fascinating items which I won't list here so as not to spoil the fun for you. Just a few photos of the displays are below:

We also saw a variety of sparrow houses, some of which were actually being used, set up below the roof of Mr. Save's home.

From that area we moved to the place where chikoos were being washed and dried out in the Sun.

Then came a short walk to the Aqua Pond and later to the man-made lake - a truly great environmental work as it was created through rain water harvesting. The lake side is where we had the fun adventure activities at the very end of the farm tour. It is also a lovely place to just sit, relax and listen - to the breeze singing through the trees, the rippling water and the birds' calls.

All in all, it was one of the best experiences we have ever had on a trip. Thank you Mr. Prabhakar and Mr. Anil Save!
